Wyoming scored its third verbal commit in two weeks Monday, when 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive tackle Dalton Fields called Wyoming coach Dave Christensen and accepted a scholarship offer.
Fields first appeared on Wyoming’s radar during a team camp in Laramie the summer before his junior season at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs, Colo.
“I really liked the coaches,” Fields said. “I really liked the community feel. You can tell that at Laramie — they’re really family-oriented.”
Fields was also influenced by the opportunity of playing alongside fellow 2013 Wyoming commit James Diamanti, also of Colorado. The two high school seniors have become friends after seeing each other at off-season camps. Fields said he called Diamanti before and after he talked to Christensen on Monday.
“He and I will make a great team,” Fields said.

Fields primarily plays defensive tackle but is also handling duties at right guard for his high school team this season. He said he also had offers from Colorado State, South Dakota State and Northern Colorado. The commitment, first reported by GoWyoGo.com, brings Wyoming’s 2013 recruiting class to six players.
