Former Wyoming running back Brian Hill has been signed by the Bengals from the Falcons' practice squad, Cincinnati announced Tuesday.
Hill fills a spot left by running back Jeremy Hill, who was placed on the injured reserve. Cincinnati released rookie linebacker Hardy Nickerson to make room on the roster.
Hill was drafted by Atlanta in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played in Atlanta's Oct. 1 loss to Buffalo but did not have a touch in the game. He was waived by the Falcons Oct. 14 and signed to their practice squad three days later.
Hill is Wyoming's all-time leading record with 4,287 yards, and he twice set the Cowboys' single-season rushing record. His 35 career rushing touchdowns are also a school record. Hill left for the NFL with one season of eligibility remaining.
The Bengals also signed rookie cornerback Sojourn Shelton to their practice squad.
