Former University of Wyoming standout Derek Cooke Jr. signed to play pro basketball in Australia on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-9 Cooke signed with the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League. The Wildcats are the two-time defending NBL champions.

Cooke averaged 6.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a senior at UW in 2014-15, helping lead the Cowboys to the Mountain West Tournament title and a berth in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Cooke played professionally in Greece during the 2015-16 season before spending last year with the Northern Arizona Suns in the NBA Developmental League. He averaged 7.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game for the Suns.
