LARAMIE -- Wyoming is adding a local product to its depleted roster for the rest of the season.

Haize Fornstrom is joining the Cowboys as a walk-on, a team spokesman said Thursday night. Fornstrom, a native of Pine Bluffs, is also a walk-on football player who redshirted as a freshman in the fall. The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder averaged 23 points as a senior at Pine Bluffs, where he was a teammate of redshirt freshman forward Hunter Thompson.

Fornstrom, an all-state selection as a guard in basketball, won multiple state championships at Pine Bluffs in basketball and football.

He's the second walk-on to join Wyoming's basketball team since the start of the season with the Cowboys having lost five players that began the season part of the rotation to injuries, suspensions or decisions to leave. Lingle native KC Henry joined the team in December and has appeared in one game.
