Wyoming guard Justin James shoots a free throw during the Cowboys' game against Drake on Dec. 2 at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie.

LARAMIE — Wyoming junior guard Justin James has been named the Mountain West men's player of the week, the conference announced Monday.

James recorded double-doubles in the Cowboys' wins against Eastern Washington and Texas Southern, and he has posted a double-double in four of his last five games.

It is the first time in James' career he has earned the award and the second time this season a Wyoming player received the accolade. Senior forward Hayden Dalton was named player of the week Nov. 13.

For the week, James averaged 20.5 points and 11 rebounds per game. James has also scored 20 points in four of his last five games. He shot 50 percent from the field (14-of-28) in Wyoming's two comeback wins the past week.

Wyoming is tied with UNLV for the most player of the week awards this season. The Cowboys are the only team to have two different players honored so far.
