The 13th-ranked University of Wyoming wrestling team won its final four matches Friday to defeat No. 13 North Carolina 20-15 at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie. The Cowboys then knocked off Army 27-9 thanks to upset victories by Hayden Hastings (Sheridan) and Tate Samuelson.

Against UNC, the Cowboys (7-3) trailed 15-8, but No. 19 heavyweight Brian Andrews got things started with a 3-2 sudden victory decision and No. 17 Cole Verner (Green River) earned a 4-2 decision at 125 pounds to pull Wyoming within 15-14.

The Cowboys grabbed the lead at 17-15 when No. 12 Montorie Bridges held on for an 8-7 decision at 133. In the final match, No. 15 Sam Turner got an escape with 5 seconds remaining to earn a 3-2 decision over No. 12 A.C. Headlee.

Against Army, Hastings won a 3-1 decision over No. 12 Ben Harvey at 174 and Samuelson defeated No. 18 Noah Stewart 3-1 with a late takedown in their 184-pound match.

The Cowboys were scheduled to wrestle American later Friday.
