The University of Wyoming is set to host its first postseason volleyball match in program history as Utah Valley travels to the UniWyo Sports Complex for a first-round match in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship on Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. tip. The Cowgirls are hosting their region of the tournament, which also includes Northern Colorado and Portland.
Wyoming (20-10, 12-6 Mountain West) qualified for the NIVC for the second consecutive season after missing the NCAA tournament and winning 20 games in a season for the first time since 2015. This is the first consecutive postseason appearance for the Cowgirls since 1990.
Utah Valley, making the program's first postseason appearance, went 19-13 and made a run into the Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship match.
Should Wyoming beat Utah Valley, the Cowgirls would play the winner of Northern Colorado and Portland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the UniWyo Sports Complex.
