The University of Wyoming men’s Nordic team swept all four events over the weekend to win the United State Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championship in Lake Placid, New York.
The Cowboys swept all four events to win their second consecutive national title and their sixth since 2003. Wyoming finished with 39 points while Western State College was a distant second with 90.
“The men took the lead from the start and never looked back,” said UW co-head coach Christi Boggs, who coaches the team with Rachel Watson.
Will Timmons of Anchorage, Alaska, won the individual men’s combined title, finishing just ahead of Mason Vincent (Laramie); Samuel Wiswell (Jackson) tied for fourth.
Timmons won the 7.5k with a time of 24 minutes, 26.4 seconds, followed by Wiswell (25:29.9) and Vincent (25:45.5). In the 15k Classic, Vincent finished first in 49:38.4, with Timmons placing third and Wiswell ninth.
For the Cowgirls, former Natrona County standout Elise Sulser won both the 7.5k and the 15k Classic to win the combined title. Yara Thomas (Jackson) tied for sixth in the combined while Meghan Kent (Laramie) tied for 10th.
The Cowgirls placed third in Saturday’s Freestyle Team Relay event to finish second in the team standings. Clarkson College won the event to finish with 50 points while UW took third in the event and finished with 55 total points.
