The 13th-ranked University of Wyoming wrestling team finished 3-0 at the Cowboys Shootout late Friday with a 25-14 victory over American. Earlier in the day UW defeated No. 1 North Carolina and Army.

Against American, the Cowboys built a 22-3 lead with Branson Ashworth (at 165 pounds), Anthony Lombardo (174) and Cale Davidson (197) all earning bonus points.

Other winners for Wyoming in the match were Jaron Jensen (140), Tate Samuelson (184), Brian Andrews (heavyweight) and Montorie Bridges (133).

The Cowboys return to action Jan. 13 when they host Oregon.
