The 13th-ranked University of Wyoming wrestling team won eight of 10 matches to defeat Utah Valley 27-6 on Friday in Orem, Utah.

The Cowboys (14-4, 4-2 Big 12) had a number of impressive individual performances, with Sheridan native Hayden Hastings earning a 7-6 upset of No. 12 Kimball Bastian at 174, No. 8 Branson Ashworth defeating a top-10 opponent at 165, and Doyle Trout picking up his first win of the season with a decision at 125.

Also coming out on top for UW were No. 19 Tate Samuelson at 184, No. 21 Brian Andrews at heavyweight, No. 10 Montorie Bridges at 133, No. 12 Sam Turner at 141 and Jed Loveless at 157.

Wyoming is back on the mat Sunday when it welcomes South Dakota State to the UniWyo Sports Complex. The dual is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
