Cheyenne East vs Star Valley 4A Boys

Cheyenne East's Erik Oliver shoots over two Star Valley defenders in their quarterfinal game of the Wyoming State High School Class 4A Boys Basketball Championships on March 7 at Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym.

Cheyenne East senior Erik Oliver was recognized as the Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year for Wyoming on Friday.

The 6-foot-2 Oliver averaged 19.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Thunderbirds this season. A two-time Class 4A all-state selection, Oliver helped lead the T-Birds to the state semifinals last weekend.

Oliver is the first Gatorade boys basketball honoree from Cheyenne East since David Ellis was recognized following the 2000-01 season. Gillette's Trey Hladky was the Wyoming winner the past two seasons.
