Wyoming high schools have two possible candidates for the Newell National Athletic Trainer of the Year Award. Chellsie Johnson at Kelly Walsh and Zachary Olivarez, LAT, ATC of Douglas are both in contention for this year's incarnation.

Both were chosen as potential region nominees for the Newell Award in partnership of the national Newell Award board with a local orthopedic practice, which was Casper Orthopedic this year. The winner of the national award wins $10,000 for themselves and $2,500 for their school.

The Newell Award National Committee will determine the winner among regional finalists and announce the recipient of the award in May 2019.
