Beartrap - Steiner

Laramie senior Albert Steiner leads the boys 5k during the Kelly Walsh Beartrap Invite on Aug. 25, 2017 on Casper Mountain.

Laramie senior distance standout Albert Steiner was honored Monday as the Gatorade Boys Cross-Country Runner of the Year for Wyoming.

Steiner won the Class 4A state cross-country meet in the fall with a time of 15 minutes, 55.06 seconds to help lead the Plainsmen to their sixth consecutive team title. Steiner finished third to cap both his sophomore and junior seasons.

The University of Wyoming signee placed eighth at the Nike Cross-Country Northwest Regional Championship in November.

Steiner joins Jonah Henry (2014) as the only winners of the Gatorade boys cross-country honors from Laramie. Rawlins freshman Sydney Thorvaldson was earlier named the state's girls cross-country runner of the year by Gatorade.
