State Cross Country

Star Valley sophomore Peter Visser was named the Gatorade Boys Cross-Country Runner of the Year for Wyoming on Monday.

Visser won the Class 3A state championship at the Veteran Affairs Hospital grounds in Sheridan this past fall with a time of 15 minutes, 56.21 seconds, the fastest time among all classifications.

As a freshman, Visser placed fifth at the state cross-country meet and also excelled on the track in the spring. He finished second in both the 1600- and 3200-meter runs, third in the 800 and ran the anchor leg on the Braves' winning 4x400 relay team.
