The Lander Tigers boys swimming team has won every single Class 3A state swim championship since 1997. And yet, for a program with a state-leading 26 team championships and a national reputation, the Tigers tallied a program-first earlier this week.

Jonny Kulow, Ryan Brinda, Nick Kulow and Caleb Huelskamp all became Lander’s first All-American swimmers with their times in the 200 medley and 400 free relays. The four combined for a 3:06.96 in the free, giving them the 84th-best time nationally, in addition to making the cut in the 200 medley with the 100th-best time in the country (1:34.05).

Huelskamp, a multi-time state champion, graduated from Lander earlier this summer. The Tigers will return both Kulows (Ryan, a rising senior, and Jonny, a rising sophomore) as well as Brinda (a rising senior) for next swim season.
