Hillsdale's Brody Cress smiles after winning the saddle bronc riding championship during Sunday's Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo finals at Frontier Park in Cheyenne.

Hillsdale native Brody Cress scored a 79.5-point ride on Burch Rodeo's Beaver Bait on Thursday night at the Caldwell Night Rodeo in Caldwell, Idaho, to tie for the night's best score, adding a little bit of money to his pocket.

The Cheyenne East graduate has carried momentum from his historic third straight Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo win and currently sits 15th in the world standings in saddle bronc. He was in 28th going into Frontier Days.

As of Friday morning Cress held just over a $2,000 lead on the cutoff, Canada's Kolby Wanchuk.

After Caldwell he was scheduled to rodeo in Gooding, Idaho, Baker, Montana, and Moses Lake, Washington, all this weekend.
