Hyattsville's Chanse Darling sits second in saddle bronc riding with 79 points and former Sheridan College standout and 2016 world champion Zeke Thurston is fourth with a 75.
In team roping, Gillette's Cody Callaway and Rozet's Clay Johnson are tied for second with a time of 8.0 seconds. Bull rider Clayton Savage of Yoder is second with 85 points and Kaycee's Miguel Garcia is fifth in steer wrestling with a 7.6-second run.
First-round leaders are: Jake Vold and Jamie Howlett in bareback bronc riding, Curtis Cassidy in steer wrestling, Hawkins Boyce in saddle bronc, Ty Bach and Trey Johnson in team roping, Treg Schaack in tie-down roping and Elijah Mora in bull riding.
In barrel racing, Nellie Miller was the first-round winner while Jessica Stolzenberger leads the second round and the average. Travis Mills of Gillette was the first-round winner in steer roping with defending world all-around champ Tuf Cooper leading the second round.
Frontier Days continues through July 29.
