Photos: One step at a time, Casper climbs to remember the lives lost on 9/11
One step at a time, firefighters and community members climbed the stairs Saturday morning, carrying with them the memory of nearly 3,000 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
The climb, hosted by Casper Fire-EMS on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, was more than a physical challenge. It was a solemn act of remembrance, modeled after the climb faced by firefighters and other first responders who entered the World Trade Center towers as they filled with smoke and fire.
Ringing the bell
After completing the equivalent of 110 stories, participants in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb ring a bell on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, marking the completion of the climb and honoring the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
