At Boomtown Blast, big fun is the name of the game. With 16 glow-in-the-dark cosmic bowling lanes topped by a 64-foot television screen, delicious food and drinks, and an expansive collection of new video and traditional arcade games, this one-stop indoor entertainment destination holds all the makings of a great afternoon or night out.
“The bowling alley originally opened in 1962 under the name Sunrise Lanes, and the restaurant was called the Colonial,” said Boomtown owner and Casper native Tanner Bekke. “After extensive renovations three years ago, the entire facility is now called Boomtown Blast and includes a new arcade for all ages to enjoy.”
Named for the prosperous local oil boom that took place at the turn of the 20th century, Boomtown Blast in the Sunrise Shopping Center serves up an exciting experience for family bonding, birthday celebrations, date nights, teambuilding work events and other group gatherings. (Several different party packages including bowling lane rentals, food, drinks and arcade cards are available.) And don’t forget, Boomtown Blast is a great spot for watching all the big games with friends. A TouchTunes jukebox app even lets guests select their favorite songs to listen to.
If arcade gaming is your jam, Boomtown Blast maintains more than 35 different games, from old-school classics such as Space Invaders, Mario Kart and Jurassic Park to modern-day offerings like Angry Birds Coin Crash, Halo and Minecraft Dungeon Master.
“Our new Minecraft is a massive four-player game that really brings video gaming to the arcade,” Bekke said. “I haven’t seen anything else like it.”
In addition to a wide range of video and arcade games, Boomtown also offers Skee-Ball, crane games to test players’ skill and options like Deal or No Deal. Best of all, the venue has recently lowered its prices to give customers even more bang for their gaming buck. A cashless debit system makes it quick and convenient to load and reload game cards at an electronic kiosk for continuous action. Simply swipe and you’re ready to play! Card holders earn points with every game that they can cash in for rewards at the on-site redemption store.
“Some of our bigger prizes include SpongeBob Krabby Patty-making stations, Nintendo Switches and smart TVs,” Bekke mentioned.
With all that activity, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Fortunately, Boomtown Blast boasts a full bar and grill menu of sharable starters, sandwiches, wings, burgers and desserts. Order up a specialty pizza or calzone with the toppings of your choice or perhaps some hand-breaded chicken strips to accompany a cold beer, glass of wine or cocktail. Draft beer is half-price during late-night happy hours from 9 to 11 p.m.; meanwhile, Taco Tuesday presents yet another tasty incentive to pay a visit.
“We really encourage our customers to try a little bit of everything here — do some bowling, get your gaming on, and fill your belly with our delicious food,” Bekke said.
