With a selection of the most popular video, arcade, redemption, crane and merchandiser games; great food and drink options; and a modern 16-lane bowling alley, it’s easy to let the good times roll at Boomtown Blast.
Casper residents of a certain age will immediately recognize the property that houses the expansive indoor entertainment hub as an enduring local landmark.
“The bowling alley originally opened in 1962 as the Sunrise Lanes with a restaurant that was called the Colonial,” said Boomtown Blast manager Tanner Bekke. “Our location in the Sunrise Shopping Center gives customers a great opportunity to do some shopping or run a few errands either before or after enjoying some downtime in our bowling alley, restaurant and arcade.”
The owners of Boomtown Blast are currently working on developing a partnership with the Casper Children’s Museum in the same shopping center to expand the range of entertainment opportunities available at both establishments. As talks continue, there’s still plenty of fun to be had at Boomtown Blast, especially during the month of October leading up to Halloween.
Newly announced monthly food and drink specials feature Meatball Slider “Monsters” with olives for eyes, and a collection of tasty Halloween-themed cocktails including Classic Bloody Marys and Ghostly White Russians, Apple Cider Margaritas, a Caramel Apple Mule and a delicious Black Cauldron concoction — bourbon, lime juice and soda water.
The Halloween celebration culminates in a costume contest running Oct. 26 through 31 with four categories to enter: Group, Female Character, Male Character and Tots (age 13 and younger).
“Customers must appear in person wearing their costume and agree to take and upload a photo to Boomtown Blast’s social media accounts to enter,” Bekke said. "We’ll judge the participants on the construction and quality of their costumes and their overall vibe.”
Winners in each category will receive a Boomtown Jack O’Lantern filled with candy, plush toys, spooky surprises and a bowling/arcade card voucher. (Visit the Boomtown website or Facebook page for more details.)
You certainly don’t have to dress up to enjoy everything Boomtown Blast’s got to offer, though. With more than 45 different modern and classic arcade consoles across a 4,000-square-foot space, gaming is an evergreen main attraction. Cashless cards allow continuous play, and the redemption store is stocked with coveted prizes and rewards.
“Some of our most popular games include Halo, Mario Kart, Jurassic Park and Space Invaders,” Bekke said. “We’ve got a massive crane game called the Taj Mahal, and our new Minecraft offering is a four-player game — I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Whether you stop in for a birthday party, a date night at the full-service bar and grill, quality time with the whole family, a team-building work event or to watch the big game with friends, Boomtown Blast is a one-stop entertainment destination.
“Boomtown is unique because we provide a variety of fun for all ages,” said Bekke. “We encourage our customers to try a bit of everything. The best experience is when you get to do some bowling, get your gaming on and fill your belly with our delicious food.”
