CHEYENNE – Wyoming’s class of 2026 achieved an average composite ACT score of 18.9. Wyoming is one of 11 states that test all students and ranks among the top two. This year, the percentage of public school students meeting benchmarks decreased slightly, with English, reading and mathematics down 1%.
“Of those states that test all students on the ACT, we continue to be at the top of the pack. I am proud of Wyoming’s performance on ACT and WorkKeys nationally, and we will not stop pushing to improve scores,” said State Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder. “Congratulations to our perfect ACT and Platinum NCRC Certificate students. Your outstanding achievements make you role models for students across the state.”
Two students statewide achieved a perfect score of 36. Forty-six percent of graduates increased their ACT scores by an average of 0.8 points by taking the test multiple times, which helped them qualify for their school of choice and additional scholarship support.
Graduates on a career pathway have the opportunity to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) by participating in the ACT WorkKeys. This year, five students earned the highest certification possible, a Platinum NCRC. Employers statewide accept these credentials and may offer a higher base salary or other benefits.
