Downtown Casper is scheduled to light up for America's semiquincentennial celebration, beginning with a lighting ceremony on Thursday evening.
The lighting ceremony is set to begin at 8 p.m. in downtown Casper, immediately following the July ArtWalk, according to the Downtown Development Authority.
Community members are invited to gather outside of CitiWerks after ArtWalk, bring lawn chairs and enjoy the ceremony.
Closures will be in effect on 2nd Street between Wolcott Street and Center Street for the duration of the ArtWalk and lighting ceremony.
"Downtown Casper is where our community comes together, and this moment is about showing up, side by side, to commemorate the 250th celebration of America's independence," Melissa Hugget, executive director of the DDA, said in a news release. "We're proud to host this experience in the heart of our city and create something everyone can be part of together."
